  1. This program is designed to give the holiday photographer some
  2. guidance on cameras, techniques and pitfalls involved in getting
  3. a few good pictures.

  5. The experienced photographer is hardly likely to need to be told
  6. much of what is included - however, we can all learn something,
  7. and there might be a few points to consider here.
  8.  
  9. Holidays mean fun and, hopefully, some good weather. Many more
  10. basic cameras are designed to perform well in ONLY these
  11. conditions, and that is why so many people get back their prints
  12. and are unhappy with the results.

  14. Even if you are a beginner, learn a bit about your camera and the
  15. film you use. Why bother at all otherwise. After all, processing
  16. is hardly cheap, so why take any pictures if you don't try and
  17. get good results ?

  19. Remember the problems of wide angle lenses making everything look
  20. small, so get in close. How close will your camera focus ? Does
  21. it have a variable exposure system, or is it fixed.

  23. You are likely to find a slider somewhere on bottom end cameras
  24. that says... 100/200 and 400. This relates to the speed of films
  25. in ISO - a standard speed rating that operates world wide. This
  26. slider probably just changes a fixed cut out aperture behind the
  27. lens. This means that, if ISO 400 is loaded, you can use it in
  28. lower lighting conditions on simple cameras by setting the slider
  29. at 100/200 !!!

  31. So, have a look at each section, and give them some thought.
  32. There is a lot to learn, and, given the basics here, you can
  33. arrive at some sensible conclusions.
